Visit your own city...

You haven't really seen your city until you view through the eyes of a tourist. There are a ton of activities going on everyday that residents are not aware of. What is the best way to find out about these happenings? Go online to the visitors bureau (in Spokane it is www.visitspokane.com) or drop into a visitors center. You'll be surprised to find out what is out there to do and even free. Speaking of that, many Spokane residents are surprised to find out that the carriage rides in downtown Spokane during the Christmas shopping season are free because they are sponsored by STCU.

If you're planning on a "staycation" or mini-vay-cay, why not stay at a local hotel and really treat yourself? Although your house may be only miles away it is like walking into another world without the pressing day-to-days that we all face. The bonus of staying in your own city is that you can take advantage of many mid-week deals offered by hotels and restaurants. No matter what you decide to do, turn the view of your own city upside down and see it from another point of view.

Through the eyes of a child...

Sam overheard Elizabeth discussing her friend from Hong Kong and said, "That's a cool name. I want to live in Honk Honk."

Summer is crazy busy!

I just launched a new public blog "Northwest Mamma" that will offer hip chic (and groovy guy) things to do that will help us all cut back, save money, spend more time as a family and simplify our lives. Check it out and keep checking back here at Bella Mamma of 3 for updates on our family.

Here's the latest 411...
Elizabeth is up at camp. She's having a GREAT time. We miss her like crazy. She made a select soccer team and will be playing in a tournament next month. Sarah has been learning to beat her dad and I at the card game, Gin. She's been hangin' out with her cousins at the lake. Sam is a force to be reckoned with on his bike and scooter. He got to ride a school bus this summer when he went on field trips to local pools through the Y program. Reed has been busy with caterings at work and rolling out new sandwiches. Diane has the opportunity to spend more time with the kids this summer and loves it. Working 3 days a week feels a little guilty. I love where I work!

Lots of photos...

We've got a lot of photos over the past week or so to show you. Scroll down and you'll see it has been very busy. Enjoy!

Bloomsday!

Everyone did so great at Bloomsday! Although they say it is 7.46 miles (12k) there are additional miles you have to walk to get to and from the start and finish lines. The morning started a little chilly. We thought it was going to rain but it held off until after the race. We rewarded ourselves with milkshakes and a well earned nap.

Here are the official finish times:
Reed: 1:49:29
Diane: 2:21:3
Janika: 1:50:45
Elizabeth: 1:50:44

Junior Bloomsday

Elizabeth, Sarah and Sam ran so great! Janika was so patient as we had to sit and wait for two hours for all three kids to run. Here are the photos from "The amazing race"...

Janika's tennis match against Gonzaga Prep

Janika and Mariah played great. They are such a wonderful doubles team. G-Prep sent a ball over the net that hit Janika in the thumb but that did not stop her from sending them right back. Here are some photos from that match. Prep won that match but they had better watch out next time for Mariah and Janika!
